Rebuilding Sonoma County After the Tubbs Fire
When the devastating 2017 Tubbs Fire struck, SCB Builders stepped up to help our community recover. We proudly rebuilt more than 30 homes for fire victims—including the first five in the hard-hit Fountaingrove neighborhood—symbolizing hope and renewal for Santa Rosa families.
These projects honed our expertise in wildfire-resilient construction, incorporating features like Class A roofing, ember-resistant vents, and defensible space design. Today, we continue to specialize in post-fire rebuilds and proactive hardening for new homes across Sonoma County.

Our Story, Philosophy, and Commitment to Sonoma County
SCB Builders was founded on the belief that great construction starts with great relationships. When Dave and Eric Keith launched the company, they brought with them a family legacy stretching back three generations in the building trades — a legacy defined not just by technical skill, but by the values of honesty, accountability, and community. Those values guide every project we take on, from a small bathroom remodel in Sebastopol to a full custom estate in the hills above Healdsburg.
Our approach to new home construction is design-integrated and client-led. We don't hand you a catalogue of pre-drawn floor plans and ask you to pick one. We sit down with you, understand how you live, what you value, and what your lot offers — then we coordinate with architects, engineers, and design consultants to bring a truly custom vision to life. Our Santa Rosa team has extensive experience with Sonoma County's permitting office, the City of Santa Rosa Planning Department, and the California Department of Forestry's WUI (Wildland-Urban Interface) requirements. We know how to get permits approved efficiently, avoiding the costly delays that can derail a project by months.
Wildfire resilience is not an add-on for us — it's foundational. After the 2017 Tubbs Fire burned more than 5,600 structures in Santa Rosa, SCB Builders committed to rebuilding smarter. We completed the first five homes in the Fountaingrove neighborhood after the fire and went on to rebuild more than 30 homes for fire victims. Every one of those homes was built with Class A roofing assemblies, ember-resistant vents, non-combustible cladding systems, and integrated defensible space planning. Today we carry those same standards into every new construction project as baseline requirements, not upgrades.
Our remodeling division brings the same rigor to existing homes. Whether you're updating a 1970s kitchen in Santa Rosa's Bennett Valley or adding a guest suite to a vineyard property in Glen Ellen, we treat your home with the same care we'd give our own. We manage all permits, subcontractor coordination, and inspections — and we use daily communication logs and on-site walkthroughs so you always know exactly where your project stands.
